The weather in Kanazawa is so changeable that the old saying goes, “Don’t forget your umbrella even if you forget your lunch box. Especially in winter, you never know when it will rain or snow again, even if the weather is clear.
If you are caught in a sudden shower (snow, sleet, or hail) during your trip, there is a free umbrella rental service that can be used conveniently.
Free rental umbrella services for everyone
Umbrellas are available free of charge at the Kanazawa Station Tourist Information Center located in front of the Shinkansen ticket gate inside Kanazawa Station, and at the Kanazawa Central Tourist Information Center near the Minamicho bus stop.
Both tourist information centers also lend out rain boots and wheelchairs, so please feel free to ask for assistance.

Free borrow-return umbrellas project
This is an environmentally friendly project that reuses forgotten umbrellas.
The umbrellas in the umbrella points shown in the following map can be borrowed freely by anyone and returned at any of the umbrella collection points.
For example, you can borrow an umbrella near the Higashi Chaya-gai area and return it at the JR Kanazawa station tourist information center on your way home.
This is a reassuring friend for travelers in Kanazawa, where it rains frequently.
